Nenad Marković, born 1983 in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia (currently Serbia) is a trumpeter, educator, researcher, and curator active in fields of classical, contemporary and improvised music.
As a member of numerous ensembles and orchestras, Nenad Marković collaborated with some of the most remarkable conductors and composers of our time such as: Claudio Abbado, Pierre Boulez, Kent Nagano, Dennis Russell Davies, Peter Eötvös, Helmut Lachenmann, Wolfgang Rihm, Beat Furrer, Heiner Goebbels and Mauricio Kagel (among others) while regularly appearing at major music festivals throughout the globe (Lucerne Festival, Salzburger Festspiele, Wiener Festwochen, Festival Cervantino, Biennale di Venezia, TransArt, Festival d'Automne Paris, MusikFest Berlin, Brisbane Festival, Sacrum Profanum Krakow, June in Buffalo, Holland Festival, Roskilde Festival, Ruhrtriennale, Bregenzer Festspiele, Macau Arts Festival etc.)
For almost two decades he has been a regular guest performer with Ensemble Modern Frankfurt and Klangforum Wien (two of the world's leading ensembles specialized for contemporary music), as well as a full member of the Ensemble Phoenix Basel. Over the years, Nenad Marković has brought over 200 compositions to a world premiere, including a number of solo works dedicated to him. He has developed concert programs and led artistic planning for several contemporary music groups, including Ensemble Laboratorium and Ensemble Studio 6, while also having served as programming advisor for Serbia’s only regular contemporary music series, "2K+".
Parallel to his involvement with the composed music, Nenad Marković regularly performs as an improviser and has shared stage with the performers such as: Mats Gustafsson, Michel Doneda, Eugene Chadbourne, Agustí Fernandez, Nate Wooley, Ken Vandermark, Jaap Blonk, eRikm, Oren Ambarchi, Chris Cutler, Thomas Lehn, Franz Hautzinger, Burkhard Stangl, Jerome Noettinger and Z'ev, to name a few.
He is a tenured professor of trumpet at the Music Academy of Novi Sad, as well as the guest professor at the Music academy in Banja Luka (Bosnia and Herzegovina). Furthermore he is a regular jury member at several international competitions for trumpet and has held masterclasses in Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Spain, Portugal, Japan, China, Nepal, USA, Slovenia, Croatia and Montenegro.

1988 – 2001 lessons in trumpet and various other brass instruments with his father Prof. Dubravko Marković in Novi Sad
2001 - 2007 studies at the Staatliche Hochschule für Musik in Karlsruhe, Germany in the class of Prof. Reinhold Friedrich (trumpet) and Prof. Dr. Edward H. Tarr (natural trumpet); where he obtained a DKA (an equivalent of Masters’ Degree)
2008 - 2009 postgraduate studies with Prof. William Forman at the HfM Hanns Eisler in Berlin, Germany
Additional education includes work with Gerard Buquet and Mike Svoboda as well as the year-long fellowship at the International Ensemble Modern Academy in Frankfurt (2004-05).
Furthermore, taking part in a long-term "Laboratorium" project, Nenad has had the privilege of working closely with the trombonist/composer Vinko Globokar on several occasions which has been a major influence and a great source of inspiration.
As a student, Nenad Marković was a laureate of several prestigious trumpet competitions, including the 1st Prize at the Tromp Muziek Biennale in Eindhoven, Netherlands (2002, the final round included a Trumpet Concerto by B. A. Zimmermann with Het Brabants Orchest under Michel Tabachnik for which performance he was also awarded the Special Prize of the Audience ); Special Prize of the Theodor Rogler Stiftung for the outstanding performance at the ARD Music Competition in Munich, Germany (2003) as well as the 1st Prize at the “BDI” Competition in Kloster Haydau (Kassel), Germany (2002)
